Bishopbriggs Pupils Supporting Local Community.

Alastair McPhee highlighted the positive role of Turnbull High School pupils in the community who have joined the St Vincent De Paul Group within the Bishopbriggs school.

Members Lauren Cunningham and Matthew Scott visited the Bishopbriggs recording studios of local charity Cue and Review Print Speaking to the Blind to present a cheque for £85. The SVDP conference was set up in the school during the 2008/2009 school session under the guidance of Mike Hughes, Head of RE.

The pupils explained they had also been visiting the St Joseph’s Convent Home, Robroyston, and the Ozanam Centre for the homeless in Glasgow. To support the charities they had run a number of fundraising events with school captain and SVDP member Lindsey McVey highlighting her involvement in the Bishopbriggs talking newspaper.
